the stationery of the Antietam Board. The letter is from
Washington, D.C. dated 1/9/1894 and is written to Union General W.
B. Franklin.
In full:
"Dear General, I wrote to Genl. W. F.
Smith a few days since, requesting him to let me know where he would
be in the city, & if convenient to call at our office in the War
Department Library. Genl. Smith in his reply to my note says
"see General Franklin and have him there say at 12 noon on the 10th
and we will then make some arrangement about going to the
battlefield." You will confer a favor by meeting Genl. S. at
our office at 12 noon on Wednesday the 10th. War Library.
Respectfully H. Heth."
