Joseph E. Johnston
Autograph Letter Signed
(1807 - 1891) Confederate major general who
led armies at Bull Run and Seven Pines. Johnston is perhaps
best remembered for his stubborn defense of Atlanta and his
resistance to
Sherman's March to the Sea.
Autograph Letter signed date 11/14/1865 from
Baltimore to Dr. John Hanson Thomas. In full:
"Dear Sir, I am anxious to confer with
yourself, Mr. Smith & Montague together in relation to the affairs
of the National Express & Transportation Company. Will you be
so kind at to meet those gentleman & myself at Mr. Montague's for
that object, at 8:00 this evening? yours truly J. E. Johnston"
