(1824-1893) Confederate lieutenant general who led troops at First
Bull Run, fought under Bragg at Perryville, and later commanded
forces at the Trans-Mississippi, crushing Banks in the Red River
Campaign. Nice content Autograph Letter Signed (ALS) 1p. 8vo.,
Louisville, July 21, 1866, in part: ". . . I enclose you the 'carte'
with the signature as you request. The likliness is imaginary.
A good one was taken by Brady of New York some 9 months since . . ."
