States, Secretary of State under Monroe who principally formulated
the Monroe Doctrine. A.L.S. "J.Q. Adams" 1p. 4to., Quincy,
Aug. 26, 1840, to Caleb Cushing of Newburyport, in part: "...Thomas
Adams...a member of the Committee of Arrangements for the Norfolk
County Pic Nic... is charged with an invitation from the Ladies to
you to attend...". Boldly written and very good.
Conservation framed with period engraving and biographical
plaque.
