Franked Postal Panel, 8" x 10", as U. S. Senator,
thus dated to the 1837-42 period, "Free, Fr. Pierce, U.S.S." also
addressed by Pierce, to "George H. Ballard, Exeter, N.H." and
bearing stamped free designation and a Washington, D. C. postmark.
The usual folds; several small holes, from past
binding, at bottom edge; two areas of paper loss, associated with
the opening of a wax seal.
